Thanksgiving has come and gone and here is another issue of my weekly round up. I will have to admit with the holiday weekend, I have slipped a bit but here we go with some things that you have may of missed as you turned to football for the weekend or just simply slept your turkey dinner away.

Who is in, who is out?

Out for the next two games would be the Penguins Matt Cooke. Once again we see a cheap shot  and the NHL has responded properly by issuing Cooke a 2 game suspension for a high hit to the head on the Rangers Artem Anisimov. Cooke threw an elbow to Anisimov’s head and dislodged his helmet which to me was a total cheap shot as it was no where near the puck at the time. Continue reading »

Another week in the NHL and just like every week, I am here to give you the highlights and the things you may have missed over the last week. Look for this segment at Stick to Hockey every week as I recap the weeks stories all in one article.

Streaks

The New Jersey Devils extended their road win record to 9-0 on Thursday night by beating the slumping Penguins 4-1. The Penguins had a streak of their own, losing 5 straight before Christmas coming early on Saturday night as Tim Thomas and the Bruins hand them a gift in OT. Continue reading »

Bruins fans will be thrilled if the results of Tuesday nights 3-0 win repeats itself  but the reality is that something has to give for the slumping Penquins. Losers of their last four, the Pens have mustered just one goal in 3 of them combined including being shut out by the Bruins just 4 days ago; in fact the Penquins have only scored 7 goals in their 5 games played in November. The Penquins are hoping for that to change as Evgeni Malkin is expected to return to the line up tonight. Just as the Pens get back Malkin they lose Chris Kunitz for the next two weeks with a lower body injury. Continue reading »

The Penguins Ruslan Fedotenko started the scoring nearly half way through the first period to give the Penguins an early lead. Sydney ended his longest scoring drought his career by getting an assist on the goal. Continue reading »

The whole nation will see the B’s vs Pens game at the Garden tonight as Versus, TSN and the NHL network will all be broadcasting the game. Both teams are banged up with key injuries and this is the last stop of a long road trip for the Pens.

The Bruins will get David Krejic back in the lineup tonight after he missed 2 games with the H1N1 virus. Michael Ryder who missed practice on Monday with flu like symptoms will be in the lineup tonight as well. Although Tuukka Rask has been solid, look for Tim Thomas tonight as he will try to end his 0-3-1 run in his last 4 games. No fault to Thomas as he has only allowed 6 goals in that span.
